For Labor Day weekend we met Ryan's sister Kerry and her husband Dave with their 2 kids in Ohio for a weekend getaway. We don't get to see them very often but love traveling with them. This trip wasn't quite as exotic as some of our past ones (Hawaii, Iceland, Sweden, Peru) but with 3 1/2 kids between us now Ohio will have to do! We had a great time. We stayed in a house in Huron, Ohio right on Lake Erie and had perfect weather the whole time. The first day we took a ferry ride over to Put-In-Bay Island. Here is Jace and his cousin Lacey on the ferry.
We rented a golf cart to get around. Who knew they made an 8-person golf cart and they put in 3 car seats for us. We got a lot of stares! We had a picnic at a park right on the water, walked around downtown for a bit then went to a butterfly house.

We spent an afternoon at a nice beach. The kids loved splashing in the water and playing in the sand.
The next day we went to the African Safari Wildlife Park, leave it to Kerry to find a safari in Ohio! It was an awesome place. You could walk around and look at lots of animals. Here's Jace petting a hedge hog.

Then the crazy part about the safari is you drive on a dirt road in your car and animals start swarming your car and you can feed them out the windows. Here's Ryan with a huge ox thing.
There were lots of deer, antelope, llamas, and then we saw the buffalo! They stuck their huge heads inside the car and slobbered all over! It was pretty wild, never done anything like that before!
There were also zebras and giraffes. We opened the side of the van to see if they would eat from us over the fence. Sure enough, the giraffe stuck his head in the van.
Jace got to feed him a carrot, so cool!
We loved all hanging out together at the house. It was a perfect set-up with 3 bedrooms so we put the kids down at night then we could eat, play games, and talk in the family room. Jace and Lacey loved jumping on the beds.
Our last day we ate breakfast at Lemmy's (the name of the Lake Erie monster) then headed home. What a perfect weekend with good company!

That safari looks like a blast! I can't believe they were sticking their heads in the car! Glad you had a good time!
Here's to many more "Meet in the Middle" trips until we finish raising our kids and can resume our exotic adventures :)
