We've always wanted to go hike in Starved Rock, an Illinois State Park about an hour south of us. We had an open Saturday with great weather and went!
It sits right on the Illinois river and had an interesting history with Native Indians.
It was hot and humid.
And Jace got tired.
We hiked to the top of the actual "Starved Rock" and looked out over the river.
We took a hike through some woods.
Unfortunately we took a wrong turn so it ended up being a lot longer and we missed a cool canyon, but oh well!
There was only one waterfall currently flowing in the whole park so we drove and then hiked to that, it was so cool! Couldn't believe we were seeing this in Illinois!
And we even got to get wet and play.
The kids loved it.
